Salt Lake City, Utah
After we left San Francisco we drove to Reno - where we camped out (picture below) for
the night - and on to Salt Lake City. It was a days drive through Nevada, a long day, an
unspectacular day. Look at a map of Nevada and you know why. No wonder the army operates
secret test sites here. ;)
The funniest thing was a coke bottle exploding over Eva's lap while she was driving.
This made my day!

| This was the camp site near Reno where we stayed for the night. |
 |
| I took this picture after crossing the border of Nevada/Utah at the
visitor center. We still had about 1.5 hours before reaching Salt Lake City, but Nevada
was behind us! :) Utah was going to turn out to be one of the most spectacular states
during our visit. |
 |
| More miles and miles of highway. The two lines in
the valley are the east- and westbound lanes of Interstate-80. |
 |
| The Great Salt Lake Desert west of Salt Lake City. The landscape to the left and right
of the highway was salty white. Salt as far as your eyes could see. This picture gives
an impression of how hot it was there. |
 |
| We finally reached Salt Lake City in the evening and jumped right into
the Salt Lake to experience its floating features. The water tasted really bad, but the
fun definitely outweighed! |
 |
| The next day we drove to the Temple Square, walked around and saw the
Tabernacle and the Mormon Temple (picture), which cannot be visited by non-Mormons. |
 |
| The Tabernacle, home of the famous mormon choir. |
 |
| This is an 8-lane road in Salt Lake City (looking from the Eagle
Gate, where Brigham Young lived), for the eyes of a german unusually
wide and straight. Visible throughout the city were the constructions
sites and cranes as preparations for the 2002 winter olympics were
underway. |
